In this interactive session, our expert speaker, Dr Hilary Pinnock, will give practical advice on how to manage patients presenting with wheeze.

This session will cover:
  • Definitions, and describing wheeze
  • Common causes of wheeze:  distinguishing asthma and COPD – and managing the overlap
  • Spotting rarer causes of wheeze
  • Managing acute wheeze

Dr Hilary Pinnock

Dr Hilary Pinnock :

General Practitioner, Whitstable Medical Practice, Estuary View Medical Centre

Dr Pinnock is a Reader with the Allergy and Respiratory Research Group, University of Edinburgh, and a GP in Whitstable, Kent. Her research interests focus on the delivery of respiratory care within the ‘real-life’ primary care setting including implementing supported self-management for asthma, telephone reviews for asthma, telehealth for monitoring respiratory disease, and supportive care for people with COPD. She is actively involved with the International Primary Care Respiratory Group, and the Primary Care Respiratory Society UK. Hilary chairs the self-management evidence review group of the BTS SIGN asthma guideline, and contributed to the COPD Outcome Strategy
