Fever is a common presenting symptom in children and it can be difficult to find a cause. In this session our speaker will provide you with a structured approach to evaluating and managing the child with fever based on the latest evidence-based guidelines. Conditions that will be covered in the session include:

Dr Russell Peek

Consultant Paediatrician, Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Trust 

Russell began his Paediatric postgraduate training in Scotland, before moving to the Southwest region in 1999.  During his training he developed a particular interest in Neonatal Medicine, gaining experience in busy regional units in Edinburgh and Bristol.    He was appointed as a Consultant Paediatrician with special interest in Neonatology in Gloucestershire in 2006.  Dr Peek also has a keen interest in Medical Education.  He teaches paediatrics and child health at undergraduate and postgraduate level and instructs on paediatric and newborn life support courses. He is a Training Programme Director with the Severn Deanery and a GMC Education Associate. 

 

Miss Shirin Irani

Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, Heart of England Foundation Trust, Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer, University of Birmingham, and Consultant Adolescent Gynaecologist, Birmingham Children’s Hospital, Birmingham

Shirin Irani has been a consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist, and honorary senior clinical lecturer at the University of Birmingham for over 10 years. She is the lead colposcopist for the Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust, the West Midlands representative for the British Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology, an honorary consultant gynaecologist running a clinic for adolescent girls after transplants at the Children's Hospital and runs a tertiary service for women with fibroids and a one stop treatment hysteroscopy clinic for women with bleeding problems.
