Annie Joseph
Consultant Medical Microbiologist at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust

Dr Annie Joseph is a Consultant Medical Microbiologist at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust, a large tertiary referral hospital in the East Midlands, UK. She is the clinical lead for laboratory diagnostics and for Antimicrobial Stewardship. Her sub-specialty expertise is primarily in urological infections, across the full spectrum of patient groups and care settings. She established a weekly uro microbiology clinical case meeting that focuses on improving infective outcomes in endourology patients, and in 2021 she co-founded the National Complex Urinary Tract Infections multi-disciplinary meeting. Dr Joseph is a council member of the British Society for Antimicrobial Chemotherapy, and has experience working with the UK Health Security Agency and the UK National Screening Committee on national guidelines relating to urinary tract infections. She is a previous standing member on the NICE Managing Common Infections committee.

Tessa Lewis
GP with an interest in therapeutics and frailty

Dr Tessa Lewis is a GP with an interest in therapeutics and frailty. She was a GP partner in Wales for 26yrs. In the last 3 years she has developed an interest in frailty and continues clinical work as an interface medic and as a GP practice locum. She is a NICE guideline chair, including the NICE Managing Common infections suite and has brought the primary care perspective to the NICE Quality Standards and Indicators Advisory Committees as a member. As medical adviser she works with colleagues nationally to support issues such as antimicrobial stewardship, anticoagulation, and polypharmacy. As medical adviser she has worked with UKHSA, Welsh Government, and currently with the All Wales Therapeutics and Toxicology Centre to provide therapeutic rapid update webinars.
